Part 2: The nightmare carpark continues!
This post is part two of the shocking story of the rogue Manchester airport parking carpark that was near Manchester airport in 2023. If you have not yet read Part 1, I recommend you can read that post here: A Manchester Airport Parking carpark? – Was This The Worst Airport Parking carpark in the UK?
After the story of them losing the keys of the man from Scotland, I started to read the unbelievable Google Maps reviews and the details of this post is taken from them. Sadly, the reviews have now been removed.
Unbelievable!
Not only was the ‘carpark’ a muddy field with cars crammed in, the customers keys were all thrown in a huge bucket! We soon heard that through the Police being there on a regular basis, the local council had been contacted, and Manchester Airport. Manchester Airport then banned the rogue carpark’s minibus from entering the Airport (yes, they had a minibus!).
This did not stop them, it just made matters worse for the unsuspecting customers that had unfortunately fell for their fairly convincing website, and low prices. Now that their minibus was banned from Manchester Airport, they simply recruited several taxis to take customers to the Airport. This meant that customers that had booked and paid already to park their car AND be taken to the airport had to pay again for a taxi! We heard that the taxis would only take them if they paid in advance and had to also pay the £5 entry fee for the airport. The customers had no choice as they had to catch their flight.
Shocking!
When customers returned from their holiday they would call the carpark hoping to be collected by the minibus they had paid for, only to be told they will have to pay for a taxi, and it would collect them. Some waited more than an hour for the taxi. When they finally got to the rogue carpark they then had to find their key in the huge bucket. I heard that then some customers realised that their car was blocked in by several other cars. They would then have to wait for the keys to those cars be found, and the cars be moved. That probably took another hour.
All One Star Reviews!
There was over twenty reviews on Google Maps for the rogue Manchester airport parking carpark. They were all one star reviews and many people put that they wish they had the option to put zero stars, but couldn’t. Here are the most shocking reviews:
One review showed their car completely covered in mud, so much so that you could not tell what make of car it was, and all the windows were covered! The review showed a picture which I wish I had copied! Another review showed a picture of the car badly damaged down one side and had a part missing.
One customer review said his fuel tank was empty when he collected his car. He had filled up the tank on the way to the rogue carpark. He said it also had done an additional three hundred more miles. I heard some of the workers were going home in and using customers cars while they were on holiday!
One customer review stated that items had been stolen from their car. Another customer said someone had slept in their car! Another customer said that the car stunk of marijuana, while another customer said there was a suspicious white powder, they suspected was cocaine, was in their car.
Finally Closed Down
I was happy to find out in October 2023, the Police and the council got together and finally closed down the rogue Manchester airport parking carpark. The police closed the entrance so no new customers could enter. The cars that were parked there gradually disappeared, as customers returned from their holidays and collected their cars. There had been so many complaints that the rogue carpark made the national newspapers and was even on the TV news. Luckily, rogue airport parking carparks are rare and most airport parking carparks are ran professionally and to the best of their ability.
Please note: the rogue Manchester airport parking carpark has been closed, please do not confuse it with any Manchester Airport parking carparks currently operating or using that trading name.
